Product Details

The 240-120 SP-Lite2 Silicon Pyranometer provides a practical solution for routine measurement of solar radiation. It has been specially designed for use in PV/solar energy module monitoring, agricultural evapotranspiration estimation using the Bowen Ratio method, for air pollution dispersion calculations with the Delta-T method, educational needs, and many other purposes.

The sensor construction is such that it measures the solar energy that is received from the whole hemisphere. This is the energy flux that is available for use in solar energy applications, for growth of plants, for air to use in thermal convection, and for water evaporation. SP-Lite is ideal for measuring this energy flux. The SP-Lite is based on a photodiode detector, which creates a voltage output that is proportional to incoming radiation. Due to the unique design of the diffusor, its sensitivity is proportional to the cosine of the angle of incidence of the incoming radiation, allowing for accurate and consistent measurements under varying sky and placement positions. Just connect it to an accurate voltmeter, data logger, or radiation indicator. To get a direct readout in watts per square meter (Wm²), divide the measured voltage by the calibration coefficient.

The SP-Lite2 Silicon Pyranometer compares favorably to ISO 9060 specified First Class Thermopile Pyranometers under clear and unobstructed natural daylight conditions, and fully complies with CE Directives.
