240-140 & 240-150 Silicon Cell Pyranometer
The 240-140 Silicon Cell Pyranometer measures global solar radiation. The 240-150 (shown in photo) includes a mounting and leveling plate. When used with the 240-152 Shadow Band, it will measure diffuse radiation.
The 240-140 Silicon Cell Pyranometers measure global solar radiation. They are completely self-contained and do not require any external power supply. When used with the 240-152 Shadow Band, they will measure diffuse radiation. These pyranometers are low cost, lightweight, and easy to install. The 240-150 (shown in photo) includes a mounting and leveling plate.
The sensor is a silicon photovoltaic cell which absorbs radiation from 0.35 to 1.15 microns. The silicon cell converts this light energy into electrical energy, and the output voltage (approximately 80 mV/1000 W/m²) is essentially linear with light intensity. Full scale response time is less than 1 millisecond due to the fact that the instrument is light sensitive, not heat sensitive. Accuracy of instantaneous values is ±5%. If the output is integrated over a daily period, the accuracy of the value is within ±3%.
All 240-140 & 240-150 pyranometers are calibrated for the entire solar spectrum by comparison with thermopile type radiometers in bright sunshine on clear days. Cosine effect and air-mass effect corrections are made during calibration. Standard temperature compensation is provided from 4 °C to 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Each instrument is furnished with a certificate of calibration showing radiation in both English and Metric units.
