The Wind Sentry Anemometer and Vane are professional quality wind sensors which are suitable for a wide range of wind measurement applications. These moderately priced sensors are principally of thermoplastic construction providing excellent corrosion resistance, low sensor weight, and minimal parts count. In addition to being available as a set complete with crossarm, the sensors are also available separately with mounting brackets. The anemometer has three hemispherical molded plastic cups. Cup wheel rotation produces an AC sine wave voltage signal with frequency directly proportional to wind speed. This AC voltage signal is induced in a coil by a two pole circular magnet mounted on the cup wheel shaft. One complete sine wave cycle is produced for each cup wheel revolution. Wind vane position is transmitted by a 10k ohm precision conductive plastic potentiometer which requires a regulated excitation voltage. With a constant voltage applied to the potentiometer, the output signal is an analog voltage directly proportional to azimuth angle. The plastic vane is molded directly on the anodized aluminum vane shaft.

The wind speed sensor is a four blade helicoid propeller. Propeller rotation produces an AC sine wave voltage signal. The wind direction sensor is a rugged yet lightweight vane. Vane angle is sensed by a precision potentiometer. Constructed of UV stabilized plastic with stainless steel and anodized aluminum fittings, the sensor mounts on standard 1 inch pipe. Model 05103V offers calibrated 0-5 Vdc outputs, Model 05103L provides a calibrated 4-20 mA current signal for each channel.

The Alpine Wind Monitor offers the performance and rugged construction of the standard Wind Monitor with the added benefit of an ice-resistant coating on external surfaces. It promises improved survivability for the most severe wind measuring applications. The wind direction sensor is a rugged molded vane. The wind speed sensor is a four blade helicoid propeller. Propeller diameter is slightly reduced from the standard model to minimize vibration at high speeds. External housing surfaces are coated with a specially formulated, Ice-resistant coating to improve performance in harsh alpine conditions. The all-black color scheme further enhances ice-shedding performance of the sensor. The instrument is made of UV stabilized plastic with stainless steel and anodized aluminum fittings. The instrument mounts on standard 1 inch pipe. Model 05103V-45 offers calibrated voltage outputs, Model 05103L-45 provides 4-20 mA current outputs.

Unique transducer produces a pulse signal without electrical contacts or slip rings. The wind direction sensor is a durable molded vane. Vane angle is sensed by a precision potentiometer housed in a sealed chamber. All materials are carefully selected for corrosion resistance and maximum durability in the harsh marine environment. Stainless steel bearings are used throughout. Special waterproof lubricant further enhances reliability. The instrument mounts on standard 1 inch pipe. Separate signal conditioning circuits are available to provide voltage or current signals when needed. Each is supplied in a weatherproof junction box with mounting hardware.

In addition to being more wear-resistant, ceramic is resistant to corrosion in environments that are hostile to steel bearings.
