NovaLynx Grounding Kits and Tower Lightning Kits provide a measure of protection from static build-up and lightning, but cannot protect against all hazards. See warranty for limitations.
190-110 Grounding Kit
The 190-110 Grounding Kit is designed to earth ground tripods, short towers, and equipment enclosures. The kit includes a ground rod, clamps, and heavy duty wire. The grounding kit is suitable for preventing static build-up on metal structures. Where direct lightning strikes are expected, or to protect towers greater than 10 feet tall, select the tower lightning kits described below.
190-121 Tower Lightning Kit
Tower lightning kits include a ground rod, lightning rod, and mounting hardware. Order the required 2/0 bare copper grounding cable separately after determining how tall the tower will be. Each kit includes 20 stainless steel cable ties to secure the cable to the tower leg at two foot intervals. Additional cable ties can be ordered if the tower is more than 40 feet tall.
190-122 Tower Lightning Kit (offset)
The offset lightning rod included in this kit provides clearance for a propeller-type anemometer mounted on the top mast of the tower. When mounted on a 12.5" equilateral triangular tower, the offset provides about 20 inches of clearance from the central mast.

AC power lines to the junction box and to instruments on the tower are protected by the 350-1077 and 350-1077-A Secondary AC Power Surge Arrestors. When a surge occurs, these devices divert it to earth ground and immediately self-restore. The 350-1077 and 350-1077-A must be mounted in a junction box.
Sensor line surge arrestor packages protect the sensor signal lines and dedicated or switched telephone lines. Each package utilizes a two-stage transient suppressor. When a surge occurs, a zener diode clamps the voltage (24 Vdc) at a safe level and series resistors absorb the remainder of the voltage. A gas discharge tube is activated if the voltage is greater than 150 Vac. These components absorb the bulk of the transient and discharge it to earth ground. After the transient passes, the entire circuit recovers automatically. The 350-B380-24V protects four lines and the 350-B480-24V protects eight lines. Screw terminals are provided for input and output connections. These line arrestors are normally mounted in a junction box.
